Job Summary:

The Cook is responsible to bring a distinct home-based menu to the guests and employees of the Ranch. As the cook you are responsible to plan, prepare and cook food items to ensure the highest quality service and experience for guests at the Ranch. You must keep the kitchen organized and running efficiently and ensure proper food handling, sanitation and following food storage procedures.

Education: 

  • Grade 12 or a combination of knowledge and experience.
  • Culinary training or certification is an asset.

Experience:

  • Three years work experience in comparable job is an asset.
  • Experience cooking Indigenous foods for small and large groups.
  • Experience supervising staff in the kitchen.
  • Experience in inspecting supplies, equipment and work areas for cleanliness and functionality.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Checking freshness of food and ingredients
  • Developing menus, receipts, and the presentation of meals.
  •  Planning menus and ensure the quality of meals.
  •  Inspecting supplies, equipment and work areas for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Ordering food and supplies on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Receives minimal supervision with occasional direction and very few checks of the work performed.
